OK, so I know a lot of people on social media are doing the 30-days of thankfulness thing, where they post daily one thing they’re thankful for, with the idea that they wind up with 30 things. That’s 10 times as many as 3. Some might then conclude I’m a slacker. To which I respond by pointing to my novel and explain how I’ve been working madly for the month of November (and October, and September) to get it all polished and sparkly, and how I don’t have time to generate 30 things.
And then those “some people” might be all, “You’re just self-absorbed!”
To which I say,
… shut up.
Anyway, 3 things I’m thankful for, other than God, family, and friends, because those are givens:
- That I’m in such a position that I can devote a lot of my time to thinking about people and places that don’t exist; that I have time for fiction and access to technology that makes it as easy as possible to produce.
- Having this week off the day job and being able to pretend that writing is my day job.
- Peanut butter, and that I am not allergic to it.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the US, and happy Thursday to those dwelling elsewhere!
